Upping The Ante On The River

In addition to the $5mm gift for north-side pools previously un-announced until yesterday, a new ad on TV last night was claiming 10,000 jobs and a $5 billion impact from river development.

Is it just me, or does it sound like the "Yes" campaign is getting desperate and realizing this thing is close to tanking so they keep upping the already over-hyped and unsubstantiated claims?

Who is running the PR for this campaign?  It gets more and more ludicrous as time goes on.

I hear you...

I fully expect that an announcement or a hint will be made... Kaiser plans to make another gift to the City if this Tax passes.

CONDITIONAL philanthropy like the $117 million allegedly collected by Kaiser hardly sounds authentic.

I'm worried I must have tipped my hand too early about the point of V-2025 passing because there was a chicken in every pot on that one.

I wonder what bribes gifts are in store for Collinsville and Broken Arrow?

I'm okay with conditional philanthropy. If you give me $1,000 I'll tattoo "I love friendly bear" on my derrière.

Okay, lemme make sure I got this straight:

The gift for the pools is not tied to river development, right?

The gift for the pools only happens if the river tax passes, right?

Nice conditional gift there, eh?

I think pool drain would be more topical.

I find it hard to believe they "meant it all along" but had they said from the gitgo something like "100M for river development and 30M for public parks and pools" then they would have swung a few more people. Most people would also glance over the fact the river areas they are developing ARE parks so they could spend as much as they want on the river anyway.

Yeah, it's fairly obvious they've been doing some polling and the thing is sinking fast.

The mendacity is something to behold, isn't it?  One day the $5,000,000 for pools is part of the $117 million and was always included, but we just didn't happen to mention it.  The next day it's in addition to the $117 million and not connected to the river funds, but oh, did we mention it's contingent on the passage of the river tax???
