Well that certainly was no way to thank him.  I mean: Who is helping this man with his PR, because that was AWE-FULL.

Slouched over, drab, hang-dog, non-smiling, grim, it looked like a scene from The Office but without proper lighting.  I would not buy a $1000 product from this man.

And talking about the need for something for Tulsans to rally around or whatever he said, has he seen that round building downtown lately?  (and does he know it is $100 million over-budget, six months late, and lose the city $3 million a year?)

That was hardly an adoring profile, in other words.

I thought it was great to get the guy behind the river vote on TV. Mr. Kaiser does not normally do such interviews.

Kudos to KOTV for these stories showing positive people for the county river tax.

KOTV also just ran a story that was very critical of the county in their handling of Bell's amusement park. Terry Hood pulled no punches with her reporting.

That is balanced news and KOTV is doing stories that no one else seems to be covering.

Need a source on that one.  The entire project was slated at $178,000,000 and then $20,000,000 was raised by box sales, naming rights, etc.  The total budget cost at the moment is $238,000,000.  Or $40,000,000 over budget.

That $40mil has reasonable explanations (steel, booming local construction) that perhaps should have been foreseen.  However, by inflating the overage by more than twice you greatly belittle your criticism.  Now people reading this are going "oh gee, only $40mil - thank god!"

Also need a source on your "loses $3mil."  I thought that was the operation budget... so if it generates no revenue for the city then it would be accurate.  However, I hope it does not sit fallow for an entire year.

Your hyperbole and misstatement of fact minimizes any points you raise.

I agree. Now if they could just do something about that silly morning show.

Tim, seems somewhat beneath you to judge him on his appearance. Even rich people deserve better.

The only place I saw the $141 was Batesline. [edit]I stand correct: http://www.kfor.com/Global/story.asp?S=5331588[/edit]

I wish I could find some original materials from the 2025 campaign as actually see what was promised.  Overall, thus far, I'm disappointed in the cost estimates for the arena.  No matter if its $40mil or $100mil.

Balanced reporting would have given a representative from the other side equal coverage.

The overages can also be attributed to over designing the arena within the given budget. The arena design was unveiled in Fall 2004 - one full year before Katrina. Even then, Pelli himself thought building that design for $141M was probably not possible.

I 100% agree, twizzler.

The Pelli guy was told to design an icon and he already had a reputation for designing way over budget.

The previous Mayor also did not have the right people overseeing those crucial first years of design and building. They simply did not know nor ask the right questions of the architect or the builder when they started.

You know, one thing Kaiser could do which might change my mind on this vote Oct. 9 is if he agreed to personally pick up the tab on any cost over-runs.

Methinks well be saying the same a couple of years from now about the River Tax...

Kudos to KOTV for showing the courage to not shy away from political controversy in investigative pieces.

Here's anything you want to know on this page:

http://www.vision2025.info/newsletters.php

Point of interest: There is a spreadsheet on proposed projects called: "All Proposals Submitted for Vision Ballot.

In it RPA had a request for west bank land acquisition for $20mm.  I'm just guessing that was for the concrete plant.

This spreadsheet is un-dated, but my speculation is these were ideas gleaned from citizens, government, and organizations at-large at some point in 2002 or 2003.

Just curious how that land price jumped by more than double in a matter of four or five years.

That spreadsheet was supplied by INCOG and is a summary of projects requested.

Yes, I believe understand that was for the concrete plant.

Same group that made the LWD request for funding that was short identified this amount too.

Also, that land was previously owned locally and I believe a partial donation was hoped for.  Unfortunately, it is not now locally owned and I believe the price will be more in line with retail plus the cost of relocation.

Mr. Kaiser is a very private individual, not an actor or a front man.  That was obviously difficult for him... and I respect him greatly for doing it and believe it was very positive.

Me, I hate getting in front of a camera but it comes with the job and never gets easier.  You should try a long interview sometime; it is not fun, even in comfortable surroundings on a topic you are passionate about.

Who on the "other side" shy's away from attention and spends a tremendous amount of time and resources solely for the betterment of Tulsa, but then again that was the point of the interview.

Tell me did they figure in House Bill 1804....?

The current owners are a Mexican Conglomerate.
