Robo-Calls from the No campaign.

I got a robo-call at my house today from a machine that had former street commissioner Jim Hewgley teling me to vote no.

If there is one thing I hate more than illegal signs in the right-of-way for months before an election it is machines calling my home.

I know that these calls are not cheap. The no people act like they are all broke, but somebody is paying for them. Does anybody have an idea who is paying for these robo-calls?
Power is nothing till you use it.

I thought those were illegal too. They have to use a machine though, there is not enough support to call upon from real live people. Sure, they may vote no but they don't feel strongly enough to help out these nattering nabobs of negativism.

Political or Issue Campaign calls are exempt from the "Do Not Call" directory.

Actually, robo-calls can be sent for next to nothing -- a computer with a modem and the right software could dial local numbers for free. Some non-profit groups use auto-dialer programs to send out meeting reminders.

Even paying a company to send robo-calls would be much less expensive than the live telemarketer calls that the vote yes campaign has been using to identify "yes" voters and determine which endorsements and arguments would shift voters in their direction, and which they will no doubt use on election day to get voters to the polls. And a robo-call is a lot cheaper than a large four-color glossy postcard.

Isn't it ironic that Mr. REDUCE, Reuse, and Recycle, Spincycle stays mum on the tons of junk mail the yes side is sending out? I've received 8 different mailings so far. Is all that glossy junk mail recyclable? I wonder if those robo-calls are more environmentally friendly in the grand scheme of things?

You are attacking me because I have not discussed mail?

Your personal attacks on me on every thread show a real obsession. No matter what I write (or don't write) you feel compelled to blather about me. I am not worthy of your attention.

Yes, everything that comes in the mail is recyclable, even glossy stuff.

That's what I do with junk mail -- toss it into the city-provided recycling bin -- along with a few magazines, newspapers, advertising mailers, bills, etc.

No big deal.

RM has engaged in personal attacks(not just on me) for as long as I've been posting on this board. He can dish it out but he can't take it. I've never cried to the Admin because I've been attacked, I just give it as good as I get it or better. That's what really drives him crazy, being out gunned and out smarted by someone who he so obviously views as beneath him. Somebody call the wahmbulance.

Look to yourself for the answers AA. Your low self esteem makes you lash out at others whom you think hold you in just as low regard. I've had lunch with RM a couple times and your name comes up in conversation. He never belittles you or questions your social status. Can you say the same?

For that matter, does anybody know who is paying for the vote-yes cointingency?
