no sales tax increase but need more money for the city?

let's jack the water rates... for everyone (including tulsa), but for the burbs, they need to go way, way up...

imagine the irony...

either that or a city income tax...

I can't agree enough with making some money off the water we supply....But I think Lafortune locked the burbs in for 20 years.....

A city income tax will never fly.

However, raising water rates would be a just measure.  That's one hefty chunk of infrastructure that those towns couldn't afford to build to circumvent higher rates.

Tulsa just got jacked for additional money twice on water/sewer in the last year and a half.  We don't need to be cramming anything else into the COT utility bills for awhile.

Water rate increases would probably be neccesary to modify the sewage treatment areas along the river to make it developable anyway.

Yeah, all this talk of a city income tax needs to stop.  It's just not a good idea, for several different reasons that I'll only go into if someone really gets annoyed at me.

But jacking up water rates--do it.  Supply and demand, baby.

Yeah, I'm not really sure how it's in Tulsa OR the region's best interests to sell water on the cheap to the suburbs....What a way to encourage sprawl and continue to overextend our infrastructure...not that it would make a bit of difference in development up there if water was more expensive..

I'm also opposed to a city income tax - I really CAN see businesses moving out, especially small businesses.  The 8 employee business I work for, while we enjoy working and living in midtown, seems like it would be easy for us to pull up stakes and move to Jenks.

YoungTulsan

For any business that just rents its office space, it would be a very easy move.
