It's now being UNNECESSARILY repaved after tearing out the asphalt overlay.

Someone should make the public works department walk from Harvard at 51st to 81st.

What a lack of direction and priorities.

Did I hear someone say the third penny permanence is underway?

I drove that yesterday and thought the exact same thing.  Who chose THAT street to get repaved?  The street they are replacing was SMOOTH by Tulsa standards.

Many of the locations picked for repaving come from city councilor requests, which obviously come from their constituents' requests.  Many of the people who do the re-paving often wonder why perfectly good streets end up getting re-paved.

I have heard that many people dont call. Lots complain and ***** about their roads to everyone but the people that need to hear it lol.  Whenever I called about potholes, they came and fixed them within a week, or two at most. They recently repaved the whole street in front of my house. Though I must confess that since I live right by the mall, they probably keep that area up better than most because it makes the city money and is a high traffic area. Just my guess anyway.

I read that some streets are done earlier than most would think necessary, as a way to greatly extend the overall lifespan of the street. This involves preventative maintenance, in which the top section is replaced to preserve the bottom section before the elements get to it.

Could all be bull, but that's what I read. [?]

I live just off 61st Street between Harvard and Yale and I have been wondering since about April what is going on.  At first the redid all of the drains along the curbs and I thought "well this is over with".  Now they come back and repave a street that is far better than 90% of the streets in Tulsa.  Needless to say I am scratching my head on this plus having to put up with the traffic mess it has created for the last 6+ months.

My mother lives a block or two south of 61st along that stretch.  She claims to have heard that the ADA ramps were done improperly and it's being re-done.  Doesn't make much sense why they would need to rip the asphalt up to do that since that would only be an issue at each intersection and a curbing issue at that.

I'm guessing there was some sort of screw-up which is being corrected.  Just curious if the contractor is doing it gratis or if we are paying for this stupidity.
