I have to admit the convenience of Walgreens is hard to beat when I'm driving about town.  However, I recently started going into the Drug Warehouse across from Ranch Acres at 32nd & Harvard.  Pretty well-laid out, great deals on about everything- including beer [8D], great variety, and best of all local.

I was in there last night with my daughter.  We got what we needed and I asked about something else we were looking for but couldn't find.  We had walked out to the parking lot and were getting in my truck when the cashier walked out to the parking lot to tell me it just dawned on him where I could go to find it.  That's old school service.  I think I'm hooked.

Anyone else prefer Drug Warehouse/Mays?

I think the customer service at Drug Warehouse is great. They are very helpful, especially to their elderly customers. I see them walk bags out to cars, etc.

Are you aware that Drug Warehouse/Mays/Med-x/Drug Mart are no longer locally owned? They all got bought a couple of years ago by an arkansas company, USA Drug. Website: http://www.usadrug.com/press-release/press-release.shtml  I do agree with your comments about that drug warehouse though, very handy!!! It's kinda ironic to me that that Med-x is still open across the street, seeing that they are both the same company.

Med X is on it's way out.  They were hoping to leave earlier this year, but had a lease issue or something.  They're hoping to get out in late 2008.

Bummer really.  That's a regular stop for me.  Just haven't picked up that Drug Warehouse vibe yet.  Walgreen's sucks, except when it's the only thing open.

I'm a CVS and Rite Aid man myself, at least in the New Orleans area. They sell liquor in their stores there, so if one wanted a bottle of Jim Beam at 3AM, it was within reach, so to speak....

I end up going to Walgreens because it's the most convenient usually. It's just overpriced and the check out line always takes forever.

I don't like Walgreens.  They always seem to advertise things that they run out of quickly and you need a rain check. They are not terribly organised, and to top it off, appear to have sullen staff (91st & Sheridan) anyway.

We have been dealing with Drug Warehouse for about 16 years now located at 71st & Sheridan.  They're pretty nice there.  I used to go to Drug Mart as well.  Walgreens kind of remind me of Walmart...they're like a darn virus!

Walgreens doesn't do $4 prescriptions unlike Reasors, Drug Warehouse and Walmart.  They charged me my regular insurance copay (so who knows what my insurance paid on top of it.)

I think that helps explain how they can build one on every corner.

Target does $4 prescriptions and regularly puts coupons in the paper for free $10 gift card with any prescription.

They also use really cool bottles and color code each bottle so you know which family member it's for.
