I find this very strange -- Sedona Spa (formerly Shape Express) at 5th & Main recently closed for good a week or so ago.  They had just spent that last 3-4 months extensively remodeling and expanding their fitness center.  After remodeling and re-branding their name to Sedona Spa, they closed about 3 weeks later. There was a sign on the door that said that due to the economic conditions downtown that they were closing and they would open a new facility in south Tulsa in the future.
Then today- I hear that Sorrano's, which is owned by the same people are closing for the same reason and moving opening a new store in Sapulpa??    I just find it odd that after spending so much on brick and morter on the 2 facilities, they just up and close.

I never actually saw them open. I can't imagine they could judge a profit argin based on how much money they made during a remodel.

Thats too bad about Sarrono's... they made a good sandwich and seemed to be busy everytime I was there.... hard to make a go with just lunch M-F though....

I agree, the spa wasn't open long enough to know if it would fly.

Soranno's did well for lunch, but I'm not sure their "happy hour" flew.  It was owned/run by the same people as Shape Express, guess they just wanted out of downtown, I'm not sure what economic downturn they could be referring to.  Most of their customers worked there.  Even though the roads are bad enough to keep others away right now (Pomodori's is also closed) those places got their business from the downtown workers.

I just noticed Sedona being empty today..  Also thought that was very strange.   Didn't know about Soranno's..   hopefully someone moves into that space.

Is Pomodorri's closure temporary?

The only said it was closed for good, and his reason was that construction made it impossible to find or get to... Which is TOTAL bull****... I drove past it everyday, and guess what? It was JUST as easy to get to as ever.  Didn't he talk of closing it once before?  I smell something that's not right with the closing...

and about Soranno's, that's too bad--and also a little hard to believe--every time I was there, it was pretty packed... Sedona barely had the sign up and then closed- what's the deal with that?

Seems like some shady things are going on...

no, they are gone for good.  thanks to our wonderful city planners, downtown is drying up faster than a Georgia lake.

these fitness centers are cratering because more companies downtown are putting in state of the art fitness facilities.  hell they one at my company looks better than some of the **** I see in a Gold's Gym.
