There used to be a place below Van's called the Charcoal Room, it was a steak place.  My hubby & I went there when in college and had a nice meal out, we were so impressed with the filet that we were tempted to order another one.  Not sure if it was because it was so fab or just that it was something other than Mac N Cheese and Ramen Noodles.

Is that still around, anyone been there?

Also, isn't there some Mexican place in Ponca City that's supposed to be the best, near the airport or something?  See, always going back to Mexican food.  [:D]

I believe you are referring to Enriques.  You can taxi right to the front door as it faces the runway at PNC.  There's nothing that outstanding about it that I recall other than their tortilla chips are made in house and brought to you hot in a basket. I believe it was white corn flour and they were somewhat puffed, darn good queso and not bad salsa either.  It's probably been 10 years since I've eaten there now.

That was the first place I flew after I earned my pilot's certificate.  I flew over to Stillwater, picked up my brother and flew on to PNC for lunch.

If you like BBQ give these folks a try, a new clean family BBQ Joint in BA next to Bass Pro called RUNT'S. I tell you that they have the best RIB'S on the PLANET!! I have grubbed there several times with the family and the kids just go nuts over the cartoons on the huge TV's. My wife loves the greek catfish and the grilled & smoked chicken. They also have smoked Prime rib on Fri & Sat( go early because they sometimes run out ) They seem to have good service and a unique concept & it's nice option from the chains.Enjoy!!

I went to Runt's a couple of times.  It is okay, nothing to really brag about.  And isn't it a small chain, I know there is one in Wagoner.

...and Muskogee...and Tahlequah.  "Hunterjohn1" is one of the 13 owners of the BA location.  So yes, I'm sure he eats there often and I'm sure it's the best BBQ he's ever eaten.  I'll give it a try next time I'm near one.

I'll second Rock Cafe in Stroud, Bob's in Pauls Valley, Murphy's in Bartlesville (they have free WiFi, too), Van's in Shawnee, and Pete's Place in Krebs.

Mr. Limey's in Bartlesville has very good fish and chips. The breading on the fish is like tempura.

Jake's Rib, just south of I-44 in Chickasha, has terrific sliced pork and the biggest side orders you've ever seen. Jake's Rib also has a location in Bricktown Brewery.

Runt's is just OK. I liked their Wagoner location better than the new one in BA.  But maybe that's because we ate at the one in Wagoner on the way home from a campout.

Meers Cafe's burgers are amazing, but they're closed on Tuesday, and I always seem to be down that way on Tuesdays.

I remember as a precocious pre-teen, my dad and I went down to Muskogee to a place called Antiques Incorporated, owned by I think James Leake, and then to Honor Heights Park. And for lunch, we went to a Barbecue joint called My Place Barbecue. Good Barbecue, good eating. I do not know if they are still there, but once I get back, I may motor on down to Muskogee and see, as they did have some good Que.
