Per smoking, pecan husks work well too.  I have access to Pecan wood at my uncles, but no chipper.  Though I would feel strange doing it, I'd be happy to mail you some wood shavings if the opportunity arises (ie. he gets a chipper for the masses of downed branches on his acreage).  I'll let you know if I find a way (an easy way, sorry - I'm lazy... but honest!).

Thanks CF, I found a place here once that had pecan but it was more than I wanted to pay.

We saved the smaller oak & pecan branches for smoking--both are great, though the oak is a little strong for some meats.

Have no idea what to do with all that magnolia....

All I know is that I've already got enough firewood for next winter, and I'm still collecting.

Me and Gretchen (my truck) are gittin' 'er done.

Well if anyone has some wood cut up that you will not be using for a fireplace and need it taken away I'll come pick it up. Just let me know!

BTW, I'm talking firewood type wood not little branches and twigs. =]

Who has a tip on where to get good firewood?  I need a rick and would prefer to have it delivered and stacked at my house in mid-town.  I'm looking for some well seasoned wood (prefer hickory, cherry, pecan, apple - something aromatic with good heat, doesn't burn up too fast).  I'm willing to pay a fair premium for a good quality wood. BTW here is a good chart with info on types of firewood.
