Hilton Tulsa Southern Hills Completes $7 Million Renovation

The Hilton Tulsa Southern Hills (HTSH), a 3-star, full-service hotel located directly across from Oral Roberts University, has completed its significant $7 million renovation. Encompassing the entire hotel, the remodel includes all 287 guest rooms and nine new suites, as well as the hotel's public areas, banquet rooms, Legends Grill restaurant, Falls Lounge, indoor pool and fitness center.

Guests of the completed HTSH can look forward to unique architectural details like imported stone from India (mined for the first time just for the hotel), a glass-enclosed pool with a retractable roof and sliding doors, and a waterfall located in the lobby bar (Falls Lounge). The popular Legends Grill restaurant also received a total renovation, boasting exciting modern décor as well as new lunch and dinner menus.

In addition to new carpet and furniture, all guestrooms have been completely redone, featuring at least one 32-inch plasma television as well as a remodeled bath and marble entry way. Additional hotel amenities including a full-service Starbucks store in the lobby, wireless Internet, and complimentary transportation to close-by hotspots like the new Riverwalk Entertainment District, provide additional convenience for guests.

According to Lacey Lamm, the hotel's General Manager, "This renovation will improve our guest's experiences at every level, from the up-to-date decor and color scheme, to the beautifully redesigned bar and meeting areas."

With its prime location close to downtown Tulsa, as well as many golf courses and shopping malls, the hotel is the perfect for meetings, weddings and social events. The fact that we have a Hilton Hotel in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart says so much about the dichotomy that is Tulsa.

This is a good reason why I didn't choose to hold a meeting with out of town guests!! I would have never heard the end of it.

Who cares if it's remodeled inside when you can look out the window and see a Wal-mart within walking distance. At some hotels that would be okay, but not a Hilton.

I always thought that tragic placement, too.  I always steer out of town guests that need to be south to the Marriott up on 71st even though it could DEFINITELY use a remodel.

Almost all of the other higher end hotels in town have remodeled or are in the process, so maybe Marriott will catch on or they will lose business.

Less than 10 miles. That would be considered "next door" in most cities.

Tulsans have an interesting concept of distance. In the river debacle places like BA and Gleenpool complained that the proposed river stuff wasnt anywhere near them. I was like, "Its just a few miles away not on Mars." lol. I have some aquaintances in Cali that were all excited they had found a place to buy near the beach. I asked how far they were from the beach, they said "Only 10 miles". Perhaps ones concept of distance is relative, kind of like the size of a fish, to the size of the "pond" one is used to being in. Small pond, small minds?

Nope, disagree.  Pure transparent marketing ploy.  Nobody thinks 10 miles is "close," not in Dallas, Houston, Chicago, or NYC.  Not even in Phoenix or LA, although it's a close call in those places depending on what you're talking about.  A lot of these hotels call themselves "convenient to downtown XYZ," but what they mean is that there's a nice convenient (gridlocked) highway that runs next door.  I travel for business all the time, and when I book hotels I always make sure I check the map to make sure that "close" means 2 miles or less from my destination.

Once again, i prefer Doubletree, and I would prefer keeping out of town guests there also.

Well in this case close does apply.  You hop on 75N and you are downtown in less then 10 minutes. Tulsa doesn't have any gridlocked highways for the most part.  Unless of course there is a wreck on the BA at 5pm or 169 and all 6 or 8 lanes of traffic must stop and stare.

The only reason this even matters is that it could rebut an argument that downtown Tulsa has enough hotel rooms.

It would actually be faster to get downtown from the Hotel Renaissance at 71st and Memorial.

My point is--the Ambassador is close to downtown.  The Crowne Plaza is close to (in) downtown.  Southern Hills Hilton is about as far from downtown as you can stay and still be in Tulsa, OK.
