What is Delta Peoria?

YoungTulsan

Delta Cafe, on Brookside at 34th & Peoria-ish

I suppose the location was becoming a little too "hip" for a southern fixins restraunt to flourish at.  The lack of a huge parking lot fronting Peoria to welcome patrons was also going against it, I surmise.

That was even still open???

Wow, talk about obtuse, someone slap me!

I would like to see it turned into a shop or perhaps two. There are plenty of restaurants in the area but if you go to shop and or just browse before or after you eat, Brookside is still a bit lacking. Have taken friends to eat in Brookside and then suggest we take a stroll and look at the shops, you find there isnt really that much to see so its a bit disappointing. However with the new addition its getting better and a couple more interesting stores would make such a "stroll" worthwile and could even start to make it a destination shopping area like Utica Square which would help create more foot traffic and  help the shops and restaurants that are already there, even more. And yea, the Delta Cafe didnt quite fit in with the area.

I drove down, I think it was 35th street, just west of peoria. There was some dirt work going on next to the church there. Anyone know whats going on there?

Btw, I think the new buildings across from the Delta parking lot look rather snazzy. Am wondering what is going in them?

They had doors at the sidewalk to welcome patrons, with parking in the rear.  Being welcomed by a huge parking lot is more Wal-Mart than Brookside.

The store Southwest Furnishings (or something) is leaving too.  It's loacted adjacent to and just south of Delta.

Urban Outfitters?

The church on 35th is building a new rec center, hence the dirt.

Any news on the development just east of the Pei Wei/Starbucks compound?

I think its foofoo enough down there....I wish some sort of outfitter or sporting goods store could work down there.....

Maybe I'm the only one, but instead of hoping for more restaurants or shops, though UO (Urban Outfitters) is appealing, I want something to DO in Brookside, not something to eat or buy.  I want to go to a movie, watch a live performance (comedy, theatre, music), climb a rock wall, go bowling, etc.

And I'm ECSTATIC that Delta is finally leaving.

I ate at Delta once.  I definitely was not impressed with anything I had and never went back.  They can call it Southern, but not in my book.  It was just terrible food poorly prepared.  Just my 2 cents.

Really?

If so, I see this happening: The parking is deadicated to Delta during the day at this time which makes for amicable parking between Jewel at night. BUT, if two bars operate out of that one parking lot at night, look out Brookside. Cluster forked.

A rec center...Drats, I was hoping it would be some lofts or something.

Where that church is, with that large space in front of it, would make a nice "square" with a fountain in the middle and shops/restaurants around it. Dont mean to sound sacreligious, but I was kinda hoping that church would "go out of business". Its interesting to think they are expanding. There are several churches in the area and it doesnt seem like the population is increasing enough in the area to support church expansion, and didnt think that so many of the new people moving in the area were the "curchy" type?
