We saw August Rush in Branson and thought it was a very good movie.  4.5*

Also saw Sweeney Tod (love Johnny Depp), and couldn't help humming some of the songs afterwards.  4.5*

P.S. I love you. 3*

"Ernest goes to Camp".

I give it four stars.
Power is nothing till you use it.

On a 5 star rating:

0 - So bad, it's worth recommending simply because well, its THAT bad.  (House of the Dead.  The Punisher)
1 - Walked out,l or should have (Hostel)
2 - Sat through it because i had paid (The Life Aquatic)
3 - Was worth watching, but I probably wont be talking about it (New Stars War movies)
4 - Good movie, very entertaining and you should see it. (Pirates movies)
5 - See it now.  Entertaining and meaningful. (American Beauty)

I Am Legend:  4.   I was expecting Will Smith does Jurassic Park.  Kinda sorta scary, but more on the adventure side.  That's not what I got.  Freaky movie all the way through, keeps you tense - but it doesn't forgo plot to get it done.  Good story line, sad, action packed...  good flick.

Bee Movie: 3+.  It's a pretty good Kid's movie, nothing great.  Worth renting with a 5-10 year old for a family movie night, but don't expect Shrek, Ratatouille, or Cars.

Sweeny Tod:  4.5.  Love the play.  Love Tim Burton.  Love Johnny Depp.  Loved this movie.  A great anti-hero story coupled with actually singing from a star ladened cast (also heavily Harry Pottered cast with Snape, Bellatrix, & Wormtail drawing major rolls that I caught).  The cinematography was what one would expect from Tim Burton, the story moved along in spite of some lengthy songs.  Keeping true to the play (NOT a movie of the play though) it did drag on at times.  But the singing was well done and catchy, with plenty of gore sprinkled in for good measure.

I'm a bit of a movie freak.  From Tsotsi to City of God and from Stranger than Fiction to Pulp Fiction or Casa Blanca to Citzen Cane.  All sorts of funky little gems in my collection. Semi-Obscure recommendations:

Stranger than Fiction -  One of Will Ferrell's least popular films it is by far the best.  Subdued with somewhat dry humor.  Great story.

Off the Map -   Slow moving.  Strange.  One my favorite "never heard of it" movies.

I need to catalog my movies.  Someone motivate me.

Top 5 list:
American Beauty
American History X
The Big Lebowski
Saving Private Ryan (has to be one war flick)
and... I can't chose a last one.  Will get back to you. [:P]

Using CF's scale:

Juno:  4

No Country for Old Men:  4.75

I can't wait to see There Will Be Blood, but it hasn't hit the AMC SuperOmniPlexThingy on 41st and Yale yet.

Rented "3:10 to Yuma" the other night
very good.. (4.5)
unpaid endorsement:  Those "Red Box" vending machines (one in neighborhood market) are pretty cool... Movie just cost $1/night.

I finally watched "Click" (bought it on sale a year ago) - 2
TMNT - 2
Beowulf - 3

Saw 3:10 in the theater.  My wife liked it better than I did.  It only hit about a 3.75 on my movie-o-meter.

I'm a big Christina Bale fan, though.  Since he took over Batman, he's tops in my book.  Also, it's worth watching him in American Psycho.

American Psycho is an awesome movie.

NEVER and i mean NEVER watch the sequel.

The Golden Compass:  4+, think Narnia with a darker over tone.  It had some action, a god story line, and a well thought out "world."  Apparently the new favorite movie for people to hate who have never seen it.  Some really cool things, no one would see this movie and go "yep, anti-christian."

The entity that gets everyone all upset is a Ministry of Magic that brain washes people, kidnaps children, and is run by a mean by pretty lady.  I do not think that is a unique formula.  The only difference is the author is apparently an outspoken atheist where most Hollywood (English, but just the same) types have the good sense to shut up about religion.

I saw National Treasure 2 the other night-not too shabby.

If you liked American Psycho, which was based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, chances are you'll like the movie Less Than Zero, also based on another book by Ellis. I've read both books and seen the films. They are very good.

GG

I have seen Charlie Wilson's War, I'd give it a 4
Trust but verify

I AM LEGEND  4 STARS

Freaked me and my wife out.  She hates movies with "fast zombies" and nowhere in the previews did it indicate that there would be "fast zombies."  I liked it, even though we left the theater feeling a bit violated!
When attacked by a mob of clowns, always go for the juggler.

Anyone interested in seeing "Cloverfield?"  I am, but my wife isn't.

I AM LEGEND - 4.75

Most enjoyable and memorable movie I've seen in a very long time. Not what any of the group of us that went expected - exceeded expectations. Saw it on IMAX and still have the fingernail marks on my arm from my wife squeezing when the "fast zombies" showed up.
