I am a huge animal lover, and So many times I have seen people get a dog, then when they find out it needs to eat, crap, needs bathed and walked, they dont want to be part of it.
Thousands of dogs and cats get put down every day because people wont take the time to get them fixed. So we end up with more animals than we can possibly house.
Pet stores need to be banned from selling dogs and cats that are from breeders, until there is no more need for pounds and humaine societys.Who gives a damn if the neighbor has a pure breed with papers!

My fiancee went and picked up this dog without telling me while I was at work.  We had the discussion plenty of times that we wouldn't get a dog until we got a fence, because I don't want animals in the house.  My mom is extremely allergic to pet dander and a host of other things.  My parents live just 3 miles from us and will visit often.  I didn't just go pick this dog up like it was a movie rental, keep it for a few days only to return it later.  We both work 50+ hrs a week and is perfect for an older couple who is retired as it is very mellow, loves to cuddle, sleep, etc.  It didn't fit our lifestyle and I tried to do the best with the hand I was dealt.  You have your opinions on dogs and I have mine.  Don't come preaching to me about inhumane and irresponsible I was for giving it away.  If anything, we saved it from being killed in the first place.  If it makes you feel any better we took it to the woodland west pet resort for two days while we moved at a cost of only 13 dollars a night so she would be OK while we moved all our stuff.  Make you feel better??

I did have a flat tire on the way home this afternoon that took me over 2hrs to change because the tools that Toyota give you on the 08 4runner are horrible and my spare was low.  Karma??

Wow, your fiancee/soon to be wife really listens well (he didn't say that we didn't need a dog) Maybe she doesn't like your parents and wanted the dog to keep them away... Ever think of that??
First, she gets the dog. What's next?? I'm sure that she will buy stuff for the house that she wasn't supposed too.

Good luck to ya!!Snicker, snicker [^]

I have to make one more point about your lack of fitness to be a pet owner (that's who I think I am). How old are you? You had pets in college? Where are they today? So did I and one of them was with me up until four years ago. I got her when I was 22 and had her until I was 40. What's the longest time you owned a pet? Puppyhood to death? I have two BBDs now aged 8 and 11. My boxer died last year at age 11. All of them rescued. All of them with behavioral problems. I feel sorry for any dog you have. They are dispensable. Something to have fun with until you tire of them or they get your carpet dirty. Obviously you have a problem with dirt, dander, etc. Then you better not get a dog. You're going to have your hands full with three year old twins.

From what I have noticed Breadburner is using the one cutting up on people. Sounds to me like the pot calling the kettle black

I am 25 years old sir/mam.  I have had a black lab since 8 weeks old through high school/college who stays in the backyard at my parents house and sleeps in the garage only when its super cold.  I had a golden retreiver before him, she died of old age.  We also had a boxer before her, we had to put her down because of a brain tumor.  The reason the dogs stayed at my parents house is because no apartments allow 90lb black labs running around.  Now I know this is the internet and only a message board, but you have some nerve coming on here questioning my ability to raise kids.  I sure hope when your kids grow up you allow them to express their own opinions and form their own beliefs on things.

Let me be the first to apologize to you and bow down to your royalty because you allow dogs in the house and raise them from the day they were born till they die and bury them  at the local cemetary.  Once again, I originally started this tread intending to find a home for this dog.  In essence I was a foster home if you will since it was going to be put down in less then a week anyways at the shelter.  How inhumane of me.

she is fine.  Had a long day at work and a headache, so she was in bed at 830.  She was mad but she understood and was glad to see she went to a good home.  Thanks for the concern! I did sleep on the couch though.  I am still really sick and my coughing was waking her.
