Any takers on how long before the media and whiny leftists (I mean Olbermann) will complain that the timing of the trials (presidential election year, close race between R v. D) is politically motivated or fear mongering?

What's my time stamp say up there?

That's how long it took.

Welp, I'm sure executing them will spawn its own round of bombings in Iraq.. one has to wonder if the plan REALLY WAS to have them attack us there rather than over here. Sorry Iraq, turns out you are the bait!

Do we know what legal procedures will be used?  Will they use the US legal system or the military courts or what? Last I heard, the hybrid system they were trying to install to try the Guantanamo detainees was stuck down by the Supreme Court.

Like Saddam, their deaths will be symbolic of victory.

I think the families of the 3000 plus murdered on 9/11 might have a different opinion about that...

Not really. I think they know the responsible party is in Afghanistan/Pakistan.

Now what would make you say that? Other than I just volunteered myself as one?

So yes, the answer is yes.  I actually do think that politics plays a primary role in how and why this administration rolls out new product. And this is prime stuff, and one of the last cards they have left.

Am I happy to have the plotters tried?  Yes.  And I don't think the death penalty is immoral on its face, so that's not an objection. But odds are this will be the sham trial of the century.  We'll introduce secret evidence, and evidence that's been coerced through torture.  We'll come up with special rules to try them, so that they "can't use our own judicial system against us."  In the process, of course, we'll end up destroying our system so we can save it.

As much as I'd like to see justice done, I don't think justice can be pursued capably by this administration.   I think they'll make a hash of it.

Get over your paranoia. KSM is done. Here, read this article about this victim of our government's administration:

Yay.  Trial-by-CNN is totally how I like to determine guilt.  That's soooooo Running Man!

I'm not really concerned if you think I'm paranoid or not.  I'll distrust our government in my way, you do it in yours.  You don't think they told the truth about 9-11, and I don't think they can pull off a fair trial. You say tomay-to, I say tomah-to.

Turns out the FBI extracted confessions using painstakingly non-coercive techniques . . . after the CIA had already used coercive techniques.

The admissions made by the men -- who were given food whenever they were hungry as well as Starbucks coffee at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba -- played a key role in the government's decision to proceed with the prosecutions, military and law enforcement officials said.

FBI and military interrogators who began work with the suspects in late 2006 called themselves the "Clean Team" and set as their goal the collection of virtually the same information the CIA had obtained from five of the six through duress at secret prisons.

To ensure that the data would not be tainted by allegations of torture or illegal coercion, the FBI and military team won the suspects' trust over the past 16 months by using time-tested rapport-building techniques, the officials said.

Try as you might, you will NEVER get me to feel like these AQ murdering douchebags were mistreated in any way. I have the images of innocent victims leaping/falling to their deaths from the twin towers (God only knows what their thoughts were at the time KNOWING they were about to die) on live television permanently tattooed on my memory. Poor little KSM having water poured on his face means NOTHING to me--especially since it is a fact he gave up another terrorist attack. Take your bleeding heart crap to Berkeley or MSNBC. Better yet, be brave and take your position to the families of those who died on that day.
