This is interesting. Obama has outspent Hillary almost four to one in the state and has 11 campaign offices in the state to her 4. Yet he is only four points ahead in the polling.

Maybe cheeseheads are just smart enough to know which ones are solid versus whizz, which ones have holes in them and which ones stink.

They do supposedly have one of the the best school systems in the country!

Did you know that parents can choose what school to send their kids to in Wisconsin?  If you want to send your little ankle-biter to a private school you receive a voucher for the money you are taxed to pay for it.  They've been doing this since the 90's.

Rather than causing the public school system to suffer, as many politicians warned, it caused them to compete.  Now their public system is above and beyond anyone else.

I would love to get a refund of the tax money I spend on Jenks schools to send my little girl to Riverfield or Holland Hall.

They also have a strategic alliances with Minnesota for higher education.  Any student from one is considered "in state" at the other.

I, to no ones surprise, have a slightly different take RM.  Obama  down to Clinton in Wisconsin by as many as 22 at one point, down by 7 as recently as January. That fact that he is polling ahead now surprises me.

It will be interesting to see how he closes in the Clinton of Ohio (Hillary +17) or in Texas where she is as Anti-Bush as you can get (a serious positive to repressed Texas democrats, Hillary +10).

And no, I apperently haven't learned my lesson on polls.  I know they are frequently off, but it's the best I have.  Need.  Information. [:P]

No predictions from RM, I see.

After getting smoked on Super Tuesday, I don't blame him.

Or maybe he's got data that indicates that Hillary's going to go 0-for-10 after Tuesday. (Not that I'm making that presumption.)

I remember seeing a Wis. poll showing Obama up 42-34. Wisky is pretty rural, probably moreso than OK. Other than Milwaukee and (Liberal) Madison its all small towns full of good progressive leaning Lutheran women and gun loving sportsmen. Almost entirely white Scandanavians and a sprinkling of Baptists for contrast. If Obama eaks it out after being so far behind it would be quite a victory.

My wife is from one of those small burgs. Hard to find private schools in any part of the state other than the two big cities.

Is it just me or did anyone else sense some gender and ethnic/racial undertones?

I thought they were just cheesy descriptions. No intent for any other...that's not gouda.

BO shoulda never been so truthful telling everyone in Wisconsin he's a Bears fan.

Unlike Hildog who moved to NY only to dump the Cubbies for the Yanks.

Not even close.

You could cheer for both the Cubs and the Yankees, but not the Red Sox and the Yankees.

Bears fans and Packers fans...that is a throw down.

Looks like Obama was pretty smart to dedicate himself to Wisconsin.  For the new stations to call it with 1% reporting pretty much means it is a clear win for Obama. Now Obama heads into Texas & Ohio with 9 (10 later tonight) wins in a row.  Maybe Clinton should have spent more & opened more offices.[:)]

Wow, CNN is predicted a 13% win for Obama.  That is unbelievable.  That's a 20 point swing in about a month from a 7 point dog to a 13 point victor and he spent the last couple days in Ohio.

I thought he might pull out a win, but I never expected another double digit win.

I haven't seen poll numbers in Hawaii and will be in bed by the 3am close time, but I haven't heard anyone give Hillary a shot there.  Obama's sister lives in Honolulu and the Clinton's sent Chelsea to shmooze (blast! Why can't I get a fully funded trip to Hawaii?).

I guess the question becomes if she doesn't get both OH and TX does she drop?  Everyone knows she needs at least one, but does she need both?

Between trying to sway already pledged delegates (not super delegates) and trying to seat Florida and Michigan (where no other Democrat front runner was on the ballot) in spite of overt taped statements to the contrary - I'd have to say she's getting desperate.   The Clinton's have spent a lot of their political capital on this race, opened up old wounds, and turned their machine against fellow Democrats.

we vs us

I gotta tell ya . . . I watched Obama's victory speech tonight, and whoever's masterminding his campaign is a straight up genius. Put the guy in front of 20k screaming fans in a freaking stadium, not in some hotel ballroom, playing to 200 of your richest and possibly drunkest donors.  Play up the populism, the rock-starism, get the Obama phenomenon all wound up and screaming, signs that say "Texas," and "Change," and that's it.  All that's missing are the fainting teenage girls in the front row and you have the Beatles doing Wembley.

He looked tired, and the speech, I thought, was pretty weak by his standards.  A little rambly, not much force behind it.  He was repeating well-worn lines.  But even on a bad day, the guy's got the chops.

His candidacy more and more brings up an interesting thing about American politics.  That is, our President must also be our Prime Minister.  We expect one man to be both a manager and a figurehead.  Obviously, you could send Obama around the world simply to make speeches on behalf of the US and we'd be hugely lucky.  But it's the managerial part that no one knows about.  Day to day mastery of facts, policy advancement, putting Congressional coalitions together to get things done.  Does he  have the long view in mind?  The dexterity to deal with Iran at breakfast and farm policy at lunch, and three things in between? Does he know when to hold em, know when to fold em?

I dunno, but it's becoming obvious that a couple glasses of red wine and politics makes me pretty chatty. [:o)]

I was sitting in a bar/restaurant in Tulsa tonight with around a dozen people. OU was playing on the two TV's when I asked if they would turn the channel on one TV to news to see what happened in Wisconsin. The bartender gladly turned one and when Barack came on two other patrons asked for volume. The place hushed. Despite OU blowing their lead against Baylor, attention was on CNN and Barack. Truly amazing. OU came from behind to win in overtime. Won't happen for Hillary. Done deal. Yes he can!
