Anyone know if this is this supposed to be anything like the ice storm event of December?

Yuck.  What ever happened to snow?  I love snow, ice....not so much.

Breadburner

They really don't know what the hell it's going to do.....

According to today's paper we're supposed to have snow, freezing rain, and a 0% chance of precipitation.

I choose A or C.

cannon_fodder

I don't mind freezing rain as long as there is no precipitation.

Most sources seem to be saying freezing rain now.   But it is 30 and windy, so one would think it should snow (the ice storm weather was > 32F with low winds).

Stupid Oklahoma weather, how I hate thee!  Bring by 65F and sunny (aka I miss yesterday).

Well look at it this way.  If we have another ice episode like the last, there's far fewer limbs to be snapped off this go 'round.

Great, I can pile more limbs onto the pile the 'first pass' missed.  Just great.

Shoot...you can have freezing rain with a temperature of 20 degrees. You gotta look at the temperatures above the ground as well.

The ice storm temperatures were just below 32. As bad as it was...we were very lucky that the winds where light or calm. A half inch of ice  and 15-20 mph winds equals twice the devastation.

I heard that there will be torrential ice rain, followed by 70 degrees and sunny weather with 6-12 feet of snow, and locusts.

I saw that also. Funny!

I have a theory that the city is now the most Icestorm-proof city in the world.  After the devastation in December, every single limb that was not physically capable of supporting the weight of ice has already fallen down.  Only the sturdy, fundamentally sound limbs are remaining.  Thus, no amount of ice could cause anywhere near the problems we had last time.  Mother nature has had her own way of culling the trees since long before the PSO tree-trimming trucks patrolled the town.

Hopefully my theory is correct!

I was more worried a few weeks later when we had a round of thunderstorms.  Could you imagine a gust front, or a tornado rolling through town with the millions of giant sticks, branches, and logs laying all around town?  We would all be swiss cheese.  It would be insane!   Personally, I live about half a mile from the dump site, so I would be royally screwed.  I hope they patrol that stuff well at night to keep some lunatic from torching it.

Notice the steam coming off the mulch piles after they grind the wood?  Gets pretty hot down in that pile.

can't wait for them to start spontaneously combusting.  That is going to be fun.  Methanol anyone?
