Do you guys know of any good/relatively cheap fence contractors in the BA/Tulsa Area? I have called around and gotten quotes over the phone from...

Aaron, Pioneer, Allied, Arrow, Liberty, and Empire for a 200ft 6ft privacy fence with gate and their estimates were listed in descending order of price. (Aaron = highest, Empire = lowest.) I asked most about a warranty and they said 1 year parts and labor except Empire which said 90 days, which scares me.

Have any of you guys had experience with any of these companies or have any suggestions for better options?

Just e-maile them for a quote... not sure if they offer standard wooden posts, looks like everywhere else they have steel available but at a cost of an additional $500. We'll see what they say. I'm not hugely interested in any steel in this fence.

We had Empire put up about 75 feet of privacy fence to enclose our backyard. I went with steel posts instead of 4x4 wood posts. The cost wasn't much more.

I was happy enough. Took one day to sink the posts...and just a few hours for them to put up the fence once the posts had set.

I think they had the lowest bid on my list as well.

Steel posts make it easier for replacement in the long run, but it does cost more....

Yeah, there will be no replacement in the long run though ... The existing fence has been up 19 years, we will be selling this house in less than 5 so if it lasts another 19 years that'd be fine by me :)

Think I am going to have to go with someone other than Owasso because they will only do steel so the price is significantly higher on top of already higher prices. I'm sure they do quality work though and they got back to me via e-mail quickly.

You might want to check with Champion Fence Company. 918-857-6310. They have done several fence jobs for me and we were very pleased. Ask for Robert

Pioneer did a 100' run of 6' cedar privacy fence for me 20 years ago.  If not for the Dec. 2007 ice storm, that fence would be in excellent condition today.

All support posts are still solid, very little weather rot or moisture damage over the past 20 years.  All the cedar slats were in great shape until last December, when the neighbor's tree limbs broke and fell on the fence.  Some minor damage, but 85% of the original 20-year-old fence is still in great condition.

You get what you pay for.  Spend some extra bucks and get a fence that will last.
