Hi all,

This is my first post here. I live in Oklahoma City and I am dating someone in Tulsa. This will be our second date, though, we've talked alot via phone, texts, etc. I have limited time to spend with her and will be arriving in Tulsa at 6 pm on Wednseday. I am looking for things to do outside of dinner, movie, or bars+clubs. Can anyone help a dater out? Thank you!

Daniel, try googling Urban Tulsa online to see what art events or gallery showings there might be.  Other than that I can't think of any clever dating ideas off the top of my head.

What do you usually do in OKC which is different?

You can likely find things like that here.

The point of a date is to share a fun time together and hopefully get closer in the process.   Actually, let me rephrase that: the point of the date is to get closer to the person, but you can't do that without something to fill the awkward gaps in new conversation.  Best move: anything you both feel comfortable doing, but that still feels interesting/exciting.

Important questions:
1) How much money do you want to spend
2) What are your age ranges
3) Do you want food or alcohol to be involved
4) Just how much time do you have?

Answer those, and I bet we can help you out.  There's plenty to do in Tulsa!

Hi all,

Thanks so much for your help! To answer your questions...

I'm 23 and she is 19. She doesn't drink and I dont either. I'm a bartender and I hate bars and clubs, heh, go figure. Money isnt an issue. I will be there from about 6 pm till 12 am. Maybe + or - 1 hour to those figures. Thanks again!

you two can have a good time at Incredible Pizza off 71st/Memorial.  Then go take pictures in front of the praying hands at ORU.  Depending on when you get here you can probably catch a good show at the Mabee Center.

several different musuems in the area, I would check out Philbrook Musuem.  The grounds are well kept, and the artwork will definitely encourage good conversation.  They also have a nice small cafe there to get coffee, muffins, etc.

Of course, if you haven't been to the Center of the Universe, isn't that the place for all dates?  Maybe you can try dinner at one of the downtown restaurants.

All Star sports complex is another option, you could do batting cages and putt putt if you are an active type couple.

Good luck and enjoy!

Since it will be nice weather, head to the Riverwalk in Jenks.  There, you will have several options of things to do, including walking along the river, eating at any number of places and hitting some other gitcha-shops, coffee shop, .....

As stated before, the center of the universe and jenks riverwalks has done well for me in the past.  But, since I'm the type that I try to be unique, I've done things like going for a walk around the gilcrease mansion (if you know some of the ghost stories from it, makes it pretty interesting), and finding a good spot to just hang out and talk with a good view.  There is a park off of, I think, 15th street that has an excellent view of downtown at night.  But, there are time when local teenagers come down and have themselves a little party here, so it can be iffy (I just happened to have somoene with me who was open minded and we joined into the party for a bit before moving on).  If it's open, you can also try the rivers edge bestro and cafe.  Decent food, generally some live music, and a good atmosphere.  Or, just going to woodward park and going for a walk and playing on the swings works too.  I've found that if you want to focus on having a good time, then you don't have to have a lot of money.

Yea check around and see what places are offering live music that night. Los Cabos often has live music at the Riverwalk.  Dinner and live music is always a good combo. Wednesdays may not have a lot going on music wise though.

If your downtown there are several nice places to eat that may have music as well. El Guapos has the rooftop restaurant. Then you can treck over to the Center of the Universe "always a great place to try and steal a kiss [;)]. Then go over to Gypsies coffe house, have a dessert or coffee, just relax, chat, let her win at checkers.

Wish that one guy had gone ahead and put in that bowling alley downtown. We really do need something else to do there. If I had the money I would build a bowling alley with a put put course on the roof, downtown.  Just need at least one or two other casual options for something to do on a date or evening out down there.

When I was 19 I used to pick up girls and take them to Sonic for a "Coke date."  Sounds silly, but it's a fun way to just put on some tunes, get a soda and chat.  If this gal lives near midtown, you could pick her up and take her to the Sonic on Brookside at 38th and Peoria.  Grab a soda or something--or even dinner--and then continue down Peoria to 41st.  Take a right and head to 41st and Riverside.

At this point, you have choices.  Turn right and head downtown, or turn left and head south.  Either way, you get a nice drive along the river.  Heading south towards Riverwalk might be the easiest option.  You can also go to River Lanes bowling alley out in that direction near ORU.

If this gal lives out southeast, though, I would defer to Inteller's suggestion of Incredible Pizza.  You won't run out of things to do.  And if you suddenly need something more, um, scenic than the 71st/Memorial area, head east on 71st toward the river and catch the sunset.

Good luck!

Considering the requirements I thought it was appropriate.  Had he not been against bars I would have suggested he visit a Kitchell Klub so they could slip his date some Vitamin K and he do the dirty deed without having to spend so much money.....but since money isn't a problem...

- Basketball?  Join 6,000 other Tulsan's at the University of Tulsa basketball game at 8pm (time subject to change) vs. Houston in the Semi-Finals of the CBI.  Tickets $5-20.

Good times IMHO!

- Wednesdays are not the hot time for shows, here are the only registered concerts I could find in the area:

Wed   03/26/08         Confide           @The Pink Eye
Wed   03/26/08       Here I Come Falling       @The Pink Eye
Wed   03/26/08       Once Nothing       @The Pink Eye

- There is nothing at the PAC that evening.

- I show no art openings that evening in Tulsa (one in Skiatook) but there are plenty of Galleries int he downtown Brady District if you want to browse art and grab some food.

- For museums I would try to catch the Philbrook straight away.  Start out in the gardens when you have some light, they are wonderful. Then wonder inside as night falls.

- When everything but the bars are closed... you can always find a coffee shop or a movie theater (anyone know what's at the Circle Cinema?)

- If you are downtown go to the "center of the universe" for a few minutes, it's interesting

- There is a cafe on the Riverparks at 21st called the River's Edge.  If it is nice out you could chill along the river with some simple food (hot dogs, burger, nachos, etc.) for sunset.

- The Zoo is closed in the evenings, but the Oklahoma Aquarium might be open later (6pm daily, 9pm THURSDAYS!  blast.)

- Call and see if you can charter a sunset Hot Air Balloon ride:
http://www.1800skyride.com/HotAirBalloons/Tulsa-ok/

- Grab some Sushi or some other interesting eats

If all that fails, you can come over to my place and organize my computer room. [^]
