Ok,

So I have spent good money on good knifes, now its time to get there edge back, yes I hone them but its time for a sharpening.

So my question is what service do you all use to get your knifes sharpened?
Thank you,
Robert Town

There used to be a store at Utica Square that did knife sharpening but they moved and I do not know where too.  It was the outdoor shop on the corner down from Stonehorse.

I do my own with carborundum, India, and Arkansas stones.  Stainless steel knives are easy, but I've never done one of the old Gerber restaurant knives with their tool steel blades.

Still, if I had to do a sushi knife, I'd be hesitant.

May you live in interesting times.

Thanks for the address and thanks for the link everyone. Will let you know what way I go, most likely going to do the pro rout this time aground.
Thank you,

And if worst comes to worst, I'll get the gear and set myself up as a sharpener if I have to. Discounts for Tulsa Now members, of course.

Williams Sonoma had a flyer for someone in town who sharpens knives.  It is not someone affiliated with WS and I have not seen their work but might be worth a phone call.  Check with W-S in Utica Square.

Am bumping bc this was a helpful thread, and I actually followed its advice.
I figured it could use an update.

I took 10 knives today, 3 good ones in fair condition and 7 tatty ones in very poor condition, to the Gadget Company on 15th and Boulder, next to Mrs. DeHaven's Flower Shop.

Over the phone, they promised same day sharpening if the knives were dropped off by noon, and next day sharpening if they were dropped off in the afternoon.  I got there at 12:30.  They sharpened all of them for $35, and had them done in less than 2 hours.  They also pointed out on one of the tatty knives where a flaw was in the metal that would eventually result in the blade snapping.

The fellah (owner?) wanted to know how I had found out about the knife service.
I told him about TulsaNow's forums.

There are plenty of knife sharpeners. But it is crucial that you go to a reputed shop. Or else you'll be wasting your money. (I happened to me once :()

I have Wusthoff chef knives and I take them to Buck Stove at 47th and Memorial.
