Can you say "yokel"? What embarrasing TV commercials. Yeah Larry, get the whole family involved right down to the obnoxious kid that says "Come see my pa pa" with a wad of gum in his mouth. Just the kind of thing we need to see in the morning.

That kid obviously has developmental delays so cut him some slack.  What's next?  Pushing the elderly down an escalator at the mall?

Hey, not everybody can be blessed with a hot daughter to pimp out for his business like Jim Glover. [:D]

Give the guy a break.

True, the ads are corny, but no worse than most other TV ads for local businesses.  I have seen various Dillard TV ads for several years now.

I have had similar reactions when the Mathis Bros. Furniture ads air.  They always have some baby on their laps or a little obnoxious dog running around.  I guess the marketing people think such scenes are homey and add a local "small town" flavor.  Whatever.

Lest we forget this classic Tulsa TV commercial: "Don't forget poor, old Pappy!  The whole town's ravin' 'bout the Reeves Boys!  If you didn't buy at Reeves, you paid too much!"  (Tulsa Reeves TV & Appliance ads, circa 1960s & 1970s.)

And let's not forget Linda Soundtrack.

Lady Soundtrak and Doc Rock... woo

Kashmir

Mathis Bros ads grate my brain.  What would be worse: watching an hour worth of those commercials or being in their store for 15 min?

Have you noticed 18002SELLHOMESIWANTTOKILLMYSELF  is adding more and more kids to their spots?  "Bats in your belfry?"

Ya, "because, we love folks!"

I hope you're happy with yourselves.

I saw their commercial today and they've cut out the section with the kid and the gum...

This forum is scary wicked with the power to change even TV commercials.  I wonder what would happen if we asked Kristin Dickerson to do the news in a bikini...do you think it would happen?

I do not know. Here is a sentence from her Channel 8 talent bio:
"If you have any story ideas for Kristin or fun "Oklahoma activities" that you think this New Mexican girl needs to experience please send her an E-mail!"

Worth a shot.
Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

Hmmm.  I don't know if you can categorize it as an "Oklahoma activity" but I'm pretty creative...
