I don't recall seeing this anywhere on here.

Oklahoma Joe's shooting for mid-August opening for lunch at Cain's Ballroom
7/6/2012 10:00:00 AM

Joe and Page Davidson, who opened Oklahoma Joe's Bar-B-Cue in Broken Arrow last December, expect to open a lunch spot at Cain's Ballroom this summer. JAMES GIBBARD/Tulsa World

Oklahoma Joe's Bar-B-Cue is shooting for a mid-August opening to serve weekday lunches at Bob's, the side stage at Cain's Ballroom, 423 N. Main St.

"We have most everything we need installed, and it's just a matter of getting everything ironed out and approved," said Jake Crandall, a manager at Oklahoma Joe's.

Oklahoma Joe's already is serving sandwiches during concerts at Cain's. The new lunch venue will offer the full Oklahoma Joe's menu, according to Crandall.

"We are getting geared up for it," Crandall said. "I think the room seats 140 or so."

The downtown spot will be open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Page and Joe Davidson, founder of Oklahoma Joe's Smoker Co. and co-founder of the famous Oklahoma Joe's restaurant in Kansas City, opened Oklahoma Joe's Bar-B-Cue in Broken Arrow last December.

The Broken Arrow restaurant is located at 333 W. Albany St. near the Bass Pro Shops. It is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Why would anyone walk that far north for BBQ at lunch when there are other bbq places to be had much closer to work? That end of the brady is a night time area not a lunch time area.

Oklahoma Joe's is very good and will be just a few blocks north of my building. I will definitely be checking it out.

First, I love your last sentence. "That end of Brady is a night-time area, not a lunchtime area."
It wasn't long ago that Brady was only a night-time area and Blue Dome was a no time area.

As far as distance, apparently you want a reason to not go and that's fine but it's only 3 downtown blocks further than Caz's, 2 further than Mexicalli, and 1 from the Hunt Club.
If someone will walk to those places, they'll walk the extra distance to have BBQ, which, as of right now, there is only one place to get BBQ downtown that I know of.

I'll take the extra hike (whew!) and be checking it out.

It's not any less conveniently located than fat guy's for the lunch crowd, and they're always busy at lunch. People will just drive to oklahoma joe's, like they do for fat guy's.

It's great that's it's there.

I hope it does well.

Here's to its success drawing more businesses in that direction and a development boom on that part of the block.

Will the food be cooked/smoked on site, or brought from the BA location?

You misunderstand me.  You did well to rebuke my run-on sentence, though.

It is not I that want a reason not to go. I was pointing my comment at a lot of the lunch crowds that I have seen in past (I used to be the chef at Lola's and worked lunch shifts at Caz's).  It's been a few years since I have hung out regularly in the Brady before 2 to dig the lunch crowd.  Maybe the crowd has changed some, but I remember people endlessly bitching about how long the walk was.  I would think the extra 200 yards of hot concrete would be the thing that would keep people away.  Especially in summer.  Then again, people might just drive.

It's just simply that there are not any other places on that end of the Brady that are open for lunch. (Cains, Soundpony, and the Pistol Don't upen until at least three.)  In fact, there are no other spaces available for rent except for the the giant space across the street on north main.  For another place to open a new building would have to be built, Marcos Matheos would have to clear out his second space, David sharp would have to renovate an upstairs area, or someone is going to have to bite the bullet and lease the building across the street which is too large for most restaurant purposes.  If they are hoping that they are pioneering a lunch scene north of Cameron, they will have to wait for someone else to join them.

Additionally, I meant, but didn't directly express, my complaint to be more of a lament that they wouldn't be open for dinner.  With a new hotel opening down the street, you would think that they would want to bank on that.

P.S.: People eat at the Hunt Club?

Understood.
While there isn't a lot of people walking that way, Caz's alway's seems to fill up as does Mexicalli. I think especially once there is street scaping and the larger projects are done it will be a more enticing walk for people.

On the Hunt Club, yea. I think they service sandwiches and fried bar type food for lunch.
On dinner, I would bet once the hotel, KOTV, museum, and the park are done they stay open for dinner, at least on a Thurs-Sat deal if not typical Tue-Sat BBQ joint hours.
